Our group was formed as a result of a large numer of people participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in North Queenland, Australia. Although our group was formed as a result of NaNoWriMo we are not associated with the group in any other way. We discovered that NaNoWriMo was a great way to get in contact with writers in North Queensland given the large amount of area it covers. Without the assistance of NaNoWriMo many of us wouldn't have discovered our love of writing.

North Queensland does cover a large area  although we have no official border. Unofficially it is considered that Mackay is the southern most part however it has gone so far as Rockhampton. It includes towns such as Mount Isa, Ayr, Townsville, Proserpine, Cairns, Ingham and Cooktown.

As a writing group this site is run by Mac Johnston, one of the members of the Far North Queensland region at NaNoWriMo. Mac has not had any novels published but has a love of writing. This love encouraged her to create this site to allow her and all the writers she has met to stay in contact through out the year rather than just November.
